Great tools — seriously, use them. But ChatGPT has a well-documented habit of confidently giving wrong answers, especially with specific financial questions. When the stakes are your retirement, your house, your financial future — it’s helpful to actually talk it through or find the right person to help.

Learning this information as early as possible is critical because even if you’re in debt, you likely have some type of retirement plan and are already probably an investor. If you’re in debt with interest rates over 7%, it’s generally recommended to pay off high-interest debt before investing more, but you still need to make moves now.
